A supplement published with to-day's issue contains the report of the Examiners ,of the Provincial Scholarships, the result of which appeared' in Thursday's Mail, the report of last night's meeting of the City Council, an account from a Calcutta paper of the discovery of an enormous amount of treasure at Cabul, and a large variety of interesting reading matter. The Customs receipts for the week ending this day amounted to £579 4s 6d. - A military funeral will be accorded toniorrow to the late Mr John Glover, junior, a member of the H Battery of the New Zealand Regiment of Artillery, who died this morning. The Volunteers are ordered to parade at the Symons memorial at 3 p.m. The booths, &c , at the Friendly Societies' fete, to be held in the Botanical Reserve on the 2nd February, were sold . at auction to • day by Messrs Sharp and Pickering, and realised the following prices: — No. 1 Licensed Victuallers' booth, £15, Mr O'Brien; No. 2, £8 6s, Mr Stallard ; No. 3, £5 ss, Mr Stallard; No. 1 Refreshment booth, not sold; No. 2, £6, Mr Burrell, Bazaar, not sold; Right to supply lunch, £1, Mr Carter; Cards events, 10s, Mr Carter. ' 'In our advertising columns appears a .notification that a special meeting of the Committee appointed to draw out a programme of races to be held on the Queeu's Birthday will be held at the Nelson Hotel ou Monday evening next* .
