NOTICE. PUEE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS. BXTB ACT UNDER the Distinguished Patronage ol bis Majesty tbe King of Italy, at. Borne, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction? from tbe Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 1 4th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucal.. ptus Extract. So far as tbe cemmittieg of imposition against; the ptiblic in such a case je concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many c. scs directly opposed to oue another.: we consider it our duty to direct the public; attention to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil ia recorded to be ol value as a medicament in caees of rbeumati.n_ of secondary nature, and manifests a: drawing, blistering effect upon the ssin. Any blistering brought on by the application ct a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in caaes of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. the curative power oi our extract on tbe named diaC.scs being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our es tract must impair the diseased • The truth of our assertion is founded Upon ths fact tbat the oil is a resinous product equivalent to coinn.on turpentine, its market value being about three -hillings one pound weight ; our txtr. ct corishts of the evaporating particles of tho gum leaves, eoothing and In tiling in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article is only made up in balf -ounce and one-ounce Vials j vials bearing on the labels our trade rmark and signature.
