WAIMEA ROAD BOARD.

I The Board held their monthly meeting on Saturday last, all the members be 1 ing present.

The Overseer stated that he had no written report, very little having been dbne oh the roads, ahd the 'greater pert of the time had be3n occupied in receiving rates and preparing the new assessment.

ThO Chairman reported having, accompanied by some of the ; members, visited the Appleby bridge, when it was decided that 'the approach should be repaired and a breakwater erec^.d at the 'river bank.

IMr Fowler reported that the proposed meeting re Mr Best's objection to a Culvert near his property at Wakefield, had been held, wben ib was arranged that Mr. Best should execute the required work on his land for the sum of £2, of which che Boa"d will contribute 15a., besides erecting the culvert aOross the road.

A letter froth the Minister for Public Works, in consequence of an application for progress payment on account of work on Stanley Brook road, stated that no reply had be.n received to a letter written in July last, advising that two agreements, respecting the expenditure of the grant for this road, which had been forwarded for the Chairman's signature, had not come to hand, although stated to have been enclosed in a letter from this Board of June 7th. The letter from the Minister enclosed copies for signature, of the missing agreements. The Secretary reported having already procured the Chairman's signature and forwarded the papers, along wibh a letter stating that the letter of July 25 had never reached this office, but one dated July 27th, enclosing forms for progress payments, had been received, and were supposed to be in acknowledgement of the transmitted agreements.
