A Timaru telegram of Friday says : — At a meeting of Roman Catholics, held last evening, at which Father Chataigner presided, the following resolutions were unanimously passed :— l. That all Catholics deprecate and disavow any interference, direct or indirect, with any Orange demonstration that may take place on New Year's Day, or at any other time. 2. That those present at tbis meeting pledge themselves to use all their influence with their friends or acquaintances not to oppose in any way demonstrations of Orangemen that may take place on New Year's Day, or at any other time. 3. That printed copies of the resolutions passed at this meeting, with extracts from Bishops Redwood and Moran's addresses on last Sun- I day, be scattered broadcast at once, and placed in the hands of all Catholics. Speak of a. man's marble brow and he will glow with conscious pride, but allude to his wooden head and he is mad in a minute. Language is a slippery thing to fool witb.
