RICHMONB HILL MINING COMPANY [Limited]. . Fourth Report of the Directors of the Richmond Hill Mining Company [Limited], ■ Gentleme^ — No work has been done at the Mine Bince the date' of the last Annual Report, for reasons given in "it, and the only matter calling for remark is that the suggestion contained in the last Report respecting a diamond drill has been acted on by the Colonial Government, who have obtained the sanction of the House of Representatives for the .purchase of one at Sydney. If this Company can obtain the use of this labor-saving machine on advantageous terms", there will be a better opportunity than has hitherto been afforded for developing the undoubted mineral riches contained in your lease, and, active operations may be resumed at Richmond Hill with ah enhanced prospect of success. But your Directors' consider that no further, outlay of capital should be undertaken- until all existing liabilities have been discharged^ It wilL be seen by the statement of accounts that the Company owes in all upwards of £400, but that were overdue calls paid up this indebtedness would be almost extinguished. .The Board accordingly propose to' take immediate steps to recover all sums due to the Company, which recent alterations in the law will enable them to 'do with more facility than has heretofore existed. Messrs W. E. Washbourn and O.Curtis, members' of the Board of Directors, retire by rotation, but are eligible for reelection. - . The Directors wish the' Shareholders clearly to understand that the accounts now submitted to them represent the estimated value of the property of the Company when in active and successful operation. In the event of the Company determining not to resume the working of the mine, and the sale of the property as a whole being found to be impracticable, the various shafts and drives would have no marketable value, and the machinery, managers house, and tramway, owing to tlie isolated position of the Company's property, would be almost equally valueless. The ore, also, unless smelting works should be' established, or raised and exported on a large scale, would, especially looking to the heavy expense of transport under present circumstances, bring little or nothing at public sale.
