CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the "Evenijjq Mail." THE NELSON CLOTH FACTORY, Sib, — I think an excellent opportunity offers now to the Nelson people to establish a Cloth Factory, as I understand Messrs N. Edwards and Co. wish to sell the Brightwater Mill; which, having an unlimited water power and being convenient to the railway and

the town could be worked much cheaper, or rather more economically, than by steam, winch, I understand, cost the Wtbley Brothers £.150 a year independent of repairs of the engine, but at Brightwater that amount would be saved. Also I believe that the machinery of the present factory could be bought pretty reasonably fot removal, which, I think, would be quite ample to commence with. Sir. one of my reasons for advocating the establishment of a Woollen Factory is, now we are not likely to have the railway to the Motueka and Buller Valleva wheuce we could naturally expect a 9tirring commerce and consequent prosperity, but from the bleak hills of Roundell and Tophouse we ueed not anticipate any such result. Therefore I beg to bu: gest some other way of raising the already too sluggish vitality of the district. I hope you will be kind enough to insert this in your valuable columns, with any suggestions you may tbiuk proper to make to forward an object of so great importance to Nelson. I am, &c, Erick Orr.
