At Wieliezka, in the centre of the saltmining region of Gallicia, in consequence of a violent movement of the waters and surface of the ground, a row of houses split iv several places, and the people fled in a panic.

The following Sydney telegram appears in the Poet.— The trial of the bushrangers was continued this morning. Scott (" Moonlite"), the leader of the gang, made a splendid address to the jury in defence of himself and comrades. The speech displayed a wonderful amount of intelligence. Scott analysed the evidence with great skill and adroitness, and appealed to tbe jury with an amount of effectiveness that caused considerable sensation io a crowded Court. It is thought unlikely tbat the bushrangers will be convicted of haviog directly murdered Bowen, but only of being accomplices in causing his death. The fatal shot is alleged to have been fired by Nesbitt, who, in his torn, was killed by the police.
