Mrs Iremonger, while chopping down the stump of a tree at Polbill's Gully, fell down tbe gully and a log rolled over her, and struck her head, and injured the base of the akull. She is in a precarious state. A special meeting of the Chamber of Commerce is called for Monday next to consider the duties levied. The Magistrate considered the practice should be discouraged and as it was a breach of the by-law fined the defendant 20s and costs. Thursday. In the case of Lingatd v. Gillon, to recover £10 paid in 1877 under protest as dramatic author's fees, the Magistrate held that the defendant had failed to establish any claim to collect these fees, and that in threatening to stop Lingard from going to America, undue advantage was taken, as it had not been shown that there existed any agreement between Coppin and Lingard. For these and other reasons the Magistrate held that tbe plaintiff was entitled to recover the money paid by him. Mr Fitzherbert, on behalf of Mr Gillon, asked leave to appeal The Magistrate said, yes, on the payment of the nioney into Court and entering into the usual bonds. At the inquest on the bodies of Mr Miller and family, Dr Fiance gave evidence that he knew Clarence since he was an infant, and that he always had a tendency towards insanity.
