MR. SHEPHARD'S PRELIMINARY REPLY.
We stated the other day that the requisition, a copy of which has already appeared in our columns, signed by 132 of his constituents, had been fof warded to Mr Shephard in Wellington. It appears that it was agot by Mr G. VV. Lightband, the chairman of the meeting at which the requisition was adopted, to Major Richmond with a request that he would hand it to the gen^feman to whom it was addressed This seems to have been done, as Mr Lightband yesterday received the following reply :—- --"Memo-^Froiti Mr Joseph Shephard to G W. W. Lightband, Esq. You having communicated with me through the Honorable Major Richmond, M.L.C., I conclude you wished my reply to be addressed to him. That is done."
