PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT UNDER the Distinguished Patronage ol his Majesty tbe Ring of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from tbe Consnl-Gererat for Italy, at Melbourne, upon initruction- from the Minister for Foreign Affaire, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell tbe eucalyptus oil found in tbe trade instead of our Eucal ptus Extract. >o far as the c< mmitting of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of tbe products are in many oscs directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— Tbe eucalyptus oil is reccrJed to be ol ▼aloe 88 a medicament in casei of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the sVin. Any blistering brought < n by the application of i medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in caiesof wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprain o, etc . the curative power of our extract on the named digeases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of tbe oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased • The truth of our assertion if founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to comn on turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract cotsi«ts of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, toothing and htaling in its efiVcts, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Oar extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
