Among the things recovered are a capstan, brass- mounted, harness cask, steering gear with wheel, and a large hawser, Egging, blocks, etc., the whole lot being valued at about £150. The expense of getting the gear across the Spit was very heavy, as it had to be performed by a team of bullocks, and as the distance ... about two miles over sand hills, etc , not many trips could be made in a day It is believed tbat it would pay a party of meu if they had a vessel of their own to work at the wreck, as a large quantity of gear might yet be saved.
