MR. SHEEHAN'S CAB EXPENSES.
(From a correspondent.) Wellington, Wednesday night. To show the extravagant manner in which the late Government conducted their business, instances of which are being brought to light every day, l send you a specimen in the shape of an answer just given to the question whether it was true that the sum of £240 had been charged against the Government for cab hire in Wellington, if so, by whom expeuded, and out of what vote it was paid. Mr Hall replied that £222 7s Gd had been paid as follows:— Sir George Grey, lGs; Colonel Whitmore, £2; Mr Sheehan) TWO HUNDRED AND NINETEEN I'OL'XDS hleven and sixrENCE There was also a further sum of one hundred and sixtkkn I'OUNDS SEVENTEEN SHILLINGS Still OUtbtilUding on account of Mr Sheehaii. The return is from the Ist July, 1878, to the 3(Hh of September last. A few more facts like these ought to open the eyes of the public to the kind of rulers they have juet got rid of, and who are striving hard to regain office.
