The Kennedy leaves Greymouth for Westport and Nelson to-day. The Patea is expected to arrive here from Jratea to-morrow rooming. The Lady Barkly leaves for Golden Bay at 1 p.m. to-morrow. The steamer Hannah Mokan is ashore on the North Spit at Waitara. T*he Albion arrived at the Bluff from Melbourne and Hobarton on Tuesday morning. The Lyttelton arrived from Blenheim last evening. She goes on the cradle this afternoon. The Murray arrived from Wellington this morning, and proceeds to West Coast ports this evening. The schooner Spec was sold at Greymonth the other day by order of the bailiff, and realised only £50. The Maori left Lyttelton at 4.30 p.m. yesterday, will arrive here to-night, and sail for West Coast ports to-morrow at noon. The " sail in sight " signalled jesterday proved to be the barque Anne Melhuish from Newcastle with a load of coal for Mr J. S. Cross, jun.j The Taiaroa, with the San Francisco mail, armed here at 11 o'clock last night, and •ailed for Picton and Wellington shortly after noon to-day. The Wallace arrived here at 12 o'clock last night, having left Wellington at 7 a.m. yesterday. Light N.W. winds were experienced in the Straits. She sails for Wanganni at 8 o'clock to-night. Six ocean freight steamers which sailed from port to cross the Atlantic, last winter, have never Bince been heard from. Nothing M known concerning a single one of them. They have perished and left no traces. The master of the barque Alexa, which arrived at Wellington on Sunday from Hong Kong, reports the existence of a group of islands in latitude 857 N., and longitude 165-53 E. They are not marked on the chart. Consequent upon the accident to the Huia in Tory Channel, the Government are about to erect lights at the entrance to that dangerouß place, and have sent home for the | necessary material. This will be a great aid j to masters of steamers passing through Tory Channel in the dark, and should remove all the perils of navigation incidental to passing through that channel at night. In consequence of the accident to the Wellington, she will not be able to leave Wellington foi Northern ports this afternoon. It is probable that her place will be taken by the Taiaroa leaving Wellington to-morrow, and arriving here on Saturday. Should such be the case there will be no steamer on Tuesday unless the Claud Hamilton, to arrive from the West Coast, should be despatched across to Wellington. I
