PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT UNDER the Distinguished Patronage ol his Msjesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Conaul-Ge'jeral for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated Mth March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucah ptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, th* eonaequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities ot both of the products are in many cis.s directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil ia recorded to le of value bs a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the %'■ iv. Any blittering brought m hy the applica* tion of a medicament rou^t increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, fcronchitiß, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. the curative power of our extract on the named di»e is<?s beine unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An applL urion of the oil instead of our extract Oiust impair tbe diseased • The truth of our assertion i* founded upon the fact that tbe oil is a ; osinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value bting about three shillings oae pound weight ; our extract coi M-ta of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for oue pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is cnly made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mati and signature.
