The Pate* sailed for Patea last evening. The Lady Barkly sailed for Golden Bay this afternoon. The Kennedy arrived at Westport at noon to-day The Lyttelton leaves for Blenheim at five o'clock this afternoon. The Wallace left for Wanganui last evening, and may be expected back on Saturday. The schooner Ellerton was sold by auction the other day at Wellington for £300. The Awaroa, from Wanganui, has been signalled all the day, but owing to the abaence of wind she had not made the harbor when we went to press. The Oleander, hence to Newcastle, arrived at Lyttelton from Hobarton last wee!:. The Minna Bell, a fine schooner hailing from Melbourne, was Bold at Lyttelton on Friday last for £170 to satisfy the crew, who had summoned the master for their wages. The Wanganni arrived in harbor at 930 this morning, having left Wellington last night. She sails for Westport and Greymouth at 8 p.m. The Wellington left New Plymouth at 9-30 this morning, will arrive here to-night, and sail for Picton and Wellington at 1 p.m. to-morrow. The Waitaki leaves Wellington at 4 p.m. to-day, will arrive here to morrow afternoon, and sail for Taranaki and Manukau at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Union Company have for some time past been considering the advisability of procuring a uniform for the officers serving under their flag. Having arrived at the conclusion to do ao orders were sent home some four or five months ago, and the uniforms arrived by the Rotomahana the other day, and will be distributed shortly. The officers of the Rotomahana already wear a uniform. A terrific explosion occurred last Tuesday on board one of the steamers trading on the Paramatta River, N.S.W., owing, it is believed, to a defect in the boiler. The boat was blown to atoms, and every vestige of her disappeared in the river. Fortunately the crew were ashore at the time, and thus escaped uninjured. The Murray arrived in harbor at 10 30 this morning. She left here on the Ist inst. at 9 a.m., but was obliged to run for Totaranni for shelter from the S.W. gale then blowing. She started again on Thursday at 6 a.m., and arrived at Westport at 9*30 on Friday morning, experienced a very ] heavy sea and S.W. gale ; left Westport at. midnight on Saturday, and entered Uokitika at noon on Sunday; left at 1145 a.m. on Monday, and arrived at Grey mouth same tide ; sailed at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, and arrived at Westport at midnight ; left at 215 p.m, yesterday, and arrived here as above. She brings up the West Coast portion of the outward San Francisco mail. The Murray •ails for Wellington at 8 o'clock to-night.
