THE RESULT OF THE ELECTIONS.
The last of the elections being now over we give below a complete list of the members returned, together with the line they are likely to adopt in the forthcoming session which is to open to-morrow week. If our list is correct there will Ire found of the European members 38 in favor of the Government, 42 opponents, and three doubtful, but of these, two, at least, namely Messrs. Bunny and M'Caughan^ are more likely to vote with the Government than against them. Supposing this to be the case, and that Mr Masters, the other " doubtful *' should take his seat on the Opposition benches, there would be 41 European members for, and 43 against the Government, Then comes in the Maori element and this, represented by four members, will, we believe, be found to be on the Government side, thus giving the Grey Ministry a narrow m vjority of two. We do not guarantee the estimate we have formed of the politics of each of the members to be an exactly correct one, but are inclined to think that it will prove to be not far wrong. Constituency.
