PUKE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT TTNDER the Distinguished Patronage oJ U his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from tbe Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon inttrnction* from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated J4th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in tbe trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a cane is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be ol ralue 88 a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon tbe skin. Any blistering brought tn by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in caiesof wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc., the curative power ol oar extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract mast impair the diseased. The truth of onr assertion in founded upon the fact that tbe eil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, ita market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract cotsists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price belDg twenty -four shillings for one pound weight. Oar extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce viala ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
