The Wallace took rather more than twenty electors to vote at the Collingwood election to-day. She was to have been back in order to allow her passengers to vote at the election of City Councillors, the poll for which closes at six o'clock, hut as she was not signalled at half-past three this will scarcely be possible. There bas been more than the ordinary amount of excitement today over the City Council election, and the supporters of the several candidates have heen doing their best to get their men in. The result will be made known this evening at half-past seven o'clock. The Wallace haviog made two electioneering trips this week, one to Pieton and the other to Motupipi, is to-night going to give up politics for play, and will sail at ten o'clock for Wellington, taking the football team who are to do battle against the Wellingtou men on Saturday afternoon. The following are the names of the Nelson players :—J. Askey, A. Askew, Adams, Burnett, Clouston, Flint, Firth (Captain), C Hodgson, H. Hodgson, Holmes, Mowat, Richmond, Spencer, Thompson, and Wells. We wish them good luck, and shall have much pleasure in announcing that they have gained a victory. The Grey River Argus of Monday says — " We regret that Mr Curtis has been rejected by Nelson, as he has proved himself an able and astute politician, although two good men have been returned." At the Waiau Court last week Tinline Brothers were fined £400 under Section 25 of the Sheep Act, for uot having their sheep branded with the letter " S." This, however, was a test case, and the fine will probably be remitted. Liquidation.—Being about to realise on my stock I have re-marked the whole at prices that ought to effect a speedy clearance. The stock is very large, wbich most of the Nelson people know, and one that the drawing room as well as the kitchen may be furnished from. This is an absolute clearing sale, and no reasonable offer will be refused John Jamks, Liquidator.— Advt. Under the sceptre of the Czar of Russia jive 38 different nationalities, each speaking Hb own language, which is foreign to all others. i •
