That Mr Fuulkner'e terms for the purchase of half an acre as a play ground at Loner WaketielJ be accepted. 6. That the Secretary apply to the Native Commissioner for u lease of six acres of land as a school site at Lower Moutere. 7. Tbat Messrs Parker Brothers' application for an extension of time to complete the school at Riwuka be acceded to. 8. Tbat £6 bo allowed for desks at 88 Valley. 9. Tbat a special meeting of the Works Committee ba heid before the Octob, r meeting of the Board for the pnrpoee of ascertaining what, if any, alterations are n quired in the teachers salary list for 1879-80, with a view to reporting to the Board. Resolved, Tbat £5 be allowed for clear intr coree and improving school ground at Motupipi. Resolved, That the Upper Moutere Committee be allowed £10 to defray the coßt of a fence at Sarati. Resolved, i hat in future, temporary appointments of teachers to supply unforeseen vacancies be made by School Committees, subject to confirmation at the subsequent monthly meeting of the Board. Reeolved, Thot the Wotks Committee be requested to make enquiry about a suitable gile for a new boys' school to replace the Haven Road School, and to ft pen to the Board at next meeticp. Reeolved, Th^t the Secretary's estimate of the coat of new buildings, ad. ditiorjs to present buildiuge, school furniture, and purchase and improvements of sites be referred to the Works Committee with the view to their reporting at nest meeting. It having been proposed that a mistress for tha Bri^htwatcr girls' school be advertised for at a fixed salary of £120 per annum, with head money, and rent allowance of £12 per annum, an amendment excluding rent allowance was carried after a division. Ayes 4. —Messrs Waetney, Rout, Malcolm, and Campbell. Noes.— -Messrs She p hard, Dencker, end the Bishop of Nelson. Resolved, in reply to a letter to the Town Committee, 1. That a question of salary be referred to the t inance Committee. 2. That it be left to the Town Committee to deal with the slip at Toi-toi Valley. 3. That Miss G. Sunley be appointed 2nd assistant at Hampden-street school, in accordance with the recommendation of the Town Committee. 4. -That the Board approve of the arrangements made by the Town Committee for temporarily carrying on the work of the 2nd division of Toi-toi Valley school, during Miss Sunley 's illness, 5. That the question of renting another room at the Port in lieu of the Tire Brigade Hall be referred to the Works Committee. Resolved, That £40 be allowed to complete and furnish the school-room at Stanley Brook. Resolved, That the inspection of the works at Charleston and Collingwood be left to the School Committees of those districts. Notice of motion by Mr Wastney :— That £18 be allowed for lining the roof of Hillside school.
