Mr. Curtis invites the electors to meet him at the Provincial Hall on Thursday night, when, we are authorised to state, he will reply to Jtbe virulent attack made upon him in this morning's Coionist. As Mr Curtis speuks best when provoked, such a speech may be expected from him as he has not yet delivered in the present contest.

There will be a promenade concert, spelling bee, &c , at the Cboral Hall, Wakefield, this evening.

The Winter Evening Debating Association will meet at All Saints' Institute to-night at half-past seven.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Southern Star Lodge of Freemasons will be held in the Masonic Hall at half-past seven to-night.

A meeting of those interested in hopgrowing is called at M'Gee's Hotel at three o'clock to-morrow afternoon.

The Nelson Wesleyan Church choir, assisted by the Stoke String Band and several amateurs, will give a concert at the Stoke Public Hall to-morrow evening. Special trains will be laid on for the purpose, leaving NeUon at 7 20 p.m., and returning at 10-15. Should the weather prove fine no doubt there will be a large attendance of town visitors.

Liquidation.— Being about to realise on my stock I have re-marked the whole at prices that ought to effect a speedy clearance. The stock is very large, which most of the Nelson people know, and one that the drawing room as well as the kitchen tiiay be furnished from.
