AUSTRALIAN
[Per Ringarooma at the Bluff.]
Melbourne,
A disgraceful scene was enacted in the Assembly on Wednesday night when Mr Gaunson and Mr Patterson, the Minister for Public Works, had a wordy warfare which almost led to blows. Mr Gaunson called Mr Patterson a cattle duffer, and hinted that he had been talked to most severely by a judge in a cattle stealing case. " The terms " scoundrel, " " bully, " " blackguard, " " whelp," " cur," were freely used, and one promised to flog the other and break every bone in his body, but all came to nothing, and next day Mr Gaunson apologised gracefully to the chairman.
The budget was only carried by abare major ity of four.
