The Kaikoura correspondent of the Marlborough Express writes:— The bleak winds have been making sad havoc among the sheep, and on soiue runs they are lying dead in all directions. A well-known settler here, ou being asked the other day how his sheep were getting on, quaintly remarked, •« Oh, they are dying beautifully, if they keep on like this it will save one a great expense for shearing this year." A telegraph operator at Muswellbrook sent 156 words in three minutes on a Morse instrument.
