Our telegrams yesterday informed us that Captain M'Kersie has been reinstated as commander of the steamer Stella. During the late session of Parliament a good deai was said about Captain M'Kersie, and a Committee was appointed to inquire iuto the cause of his dismissal, which was said to be in consequence of certain charges preferred against him hy the Marine Department, although it was not stated what these charges were. We now learn tbat they were as follows :— That he appropriated for his own nse certain medicines presumably ordered for the Stella, and that he also demanded a commission from the chemist who supplied them. The Committee reported that there was no evidence to support the accusations made against him, and recommended that he be reinstated.
