PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT TTNDER tbe Distinguished Patronage ol U his Majesty tbe KiDg of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, nt Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed tbat dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of onr Eucal< ptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many c. at s directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value ss a medicament in casea of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the s'-in. Any blistering brought rn by the applica. tion ot a medicament must increase inflammation, acd it is therefore evident that in casesof wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An appliration of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion i<= founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to comnon turpentine, ita market value being about three shillings oue pound weight ; onr extract coisi'ts of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its efli ets, its price being twenty -four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article istnly made up in half-ounce and on .-ounce vials ; viala bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
