The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 200,000 quarters. At the wool sales to-day 9,300 bales were offered, making a total of 37,800 catalogued Bince the opening: There was a better . demand and good qualities generally are realising about the same price as at the last sales. In the House of Lords to-day the Right Hon. Earl Spencer, Lord President of the Council, admitted that the existing agitation in Ireland was dangeroua to tho peace of that country, but said it was not intended to propose any special laws to deal with the difficulties at present as the common laws were deemed! sufficient for that purpose. The cricket match Australians v eighteen of Scarborough was resumed to-day. The Australians continued their first innings and were all disposed of for 96. The Home team then went in for their second innings and were all ont for 96 when the stumps were draws. Boyle, for the Australians, bowled splendidly. The Australians now require to make 171 runs in their second innings to win the match. August 21. At the wool sales to-day 10,700 bales were offered, making a total of 48,500 catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale was animated. Cross-breds are still a half penny to a penny lower than at the last sales. In the __ House of Commons the Hares and Rabbits Bill has been Dassed through Committee. Subscriptions have been opened for £65,000 six per cent Auckland debentures. The cricket match between the Australians and eighteen of Scarborough was resumed to-day. The second innings of the Australians was alone necessary to the completion of the match, and they were all disposed for 80 runs. [N. B.— lf the above figures and those already given are correct the Scarborough team have won the match by 90 runs. A repetition has been called for of the various telegrams.] Calcutta, August 20. A report was received yesterday that Ayoub Khan had attacked the citadel at Candahar and was repulsed, but it is now proved to he devoid of foundation. AugUßt2l. General Stewart has arrived, aud is quartered at Jellalabad. General Roberts passed through Ghnznee unopposed, but reports that Mahomed Asdm was hovering on bis flunk during the march. General Phayre has started with a relief force for Candahar from Ehojak. St. Petersburg, August 20. The Supreme Commission which was appointed by the Czar in March last for the maintenance of the peace of Russia has now been abolished, and General Loris Melikoff who waa the head of the Commission, has' as was recently announced, been appointed Minister of the Interior.
