PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT TTNDER the Distinguished Patronage of %J his Msjeety the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction- from (he Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine; often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So fer as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not ba serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are ia many cases directiy opposed to oce another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the akin.! Any blistering brought en by the application ot a medicament must increase inflsmniation, and it is therefore evident that ia cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. the curative power of our extract oh the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion i*. founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product: equivalent to comn on turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating pmticies of ihe gum leaves, eoothing; and ht-aliug in its efftcts, its price bejeg twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-cunce vials ; vjals bearing on the labds our trade mark, and signature.
