The Wellington leaves Wellington at midday on Monday, will arrive here early on Tuesday morning, and sail for Picton and Wellington at 2 p m. same day. . Mr Touet, late purser of the Wellington, has been appointed to a similar position on board the Claud Hamilton, Mr Jones, the parser of that steamer, having been transferred to the Rotorua. The Claud Hamilton came into harbor late last night. She left Melbourne on July 3lßt at 1-30 p.m., and passed the Slaters on August Ist at 11 a.m., arriving off Hokitika at midnight on the sth; experienced strong S.E. winds with head sea until the 3rd, thence light variables and fine weather to arrival; discharged 2no tons of cargo and left at 3-30 p.m. on the 7th, arriving here at 2-80 p.m. yesterday. She brings 20 tons cargo for Nelson and one steerage passenger. The Claud Hamilton sailed for Grey, Hokitika, Newcastle, and Melbourne at noon to-day. The engines and propeller for the steamer Wakatu arrived by the Wellington from Auckland yesterday, and no time will be lost in putting them in their places. The work of fitting the steamer up is progressing favourably, a large gang of joiners being engaged in the job. The masts have been stepped, and have given her quite a yachtlike appearance. They are pole masts, and have a tremendous rake, fometbing similar to those of the Arawata and Ringarooma. The Wakatu will be ready for sea next month.
