The Patea sailed for Patea last night. The Lady Barkly left for Goldea Bay last Dight. The Charleg Edward sailed for West Coast ports this morning. The Lyttelton left Wellington for Blenheim this morning. The Murray leaves for West Coast ports at soon on Friday. The Kennedy arrived from Greymouth this morning. She leaves for Wellington at 6 p.m. to-morrow. The Wallace arrived at Wellington this morning. She is expected to arrive here on Friday morning, and leave again for Wanganui in the evening. The Wellington leaves Onehunga to-day, Trill arrive here to-morrow night, and sail for Picton and Wellington at 11 a.m. on Friday. The Vindex was towed to sea by the Kennedy this morning, and at once set sail for Newcastle. The Claud Hamilton arrived off Hokitika last night, and is now being tendered there. She will arrive here to-morrow, and sail for Newcastle and Melbourne, via West Coast ports, at noon on Friday. The Wanganui and Charles Edward had a spin down the bay together this afternoon. The captain of the former evidently bad hopes of beating the paddle boat, for he ■waited outside for her. Both steamers are "bound for Westport, and when last seen were firing up vigorously. The Wanganui has an advantage over the local steamer, inasmuch as she is in fine trim, while her rival is rather deep in the water. The following advertisement appears in the West Coast papers :— The Union Company solicit increased support from importers of this steamer (the Claud Hamilton) at the reduced rates of freight, as unless the Company receive more encouragement than heretofore, she will be withdrawn from the trade. The Taiaroa arrived in harbor at 9 o'clock last night. After leaving Picton on Monday sight a dense fog was experienced, and as it was not deemed prudent to proceed on the ■voyage the Taiaroa came to an auchor near Long Island, and remained there until 11 a.m. yesterday, when she got under weigh, arriving here as above. The Taiaroa sailed for Picton and Wellington this morning. The Wanganui arrived here at 7 a.m. today. She left Dunedin at 2 a.m. on Friday, and arrived at Oamaru at 7 a.m. ; sailed at 5 p.m., and reached Lyttelton at 330 p.m. next day; left at 10 p.m , and arrived at Wellington at 10 p.m. on Sunday; sailed for j Nelson at 5 p.m. yesterday, arriving here as above. Experienced strong head winds with heavy sea between Lyttelton and Wellington. The Wanganui sailed for Weatport and Greymouth at noon. j The Meon, on her periodical trip round ttie Middle Island, arrived here early this this morning. She left Dunedin at 715 p.m. on July 25, and experienced strong S.W. winds until arrival at the Bluff at 4 p.m. on the 26th; sailed at 8 am. on the 27th, and reached Preservation Inlet at 7 p.m.. same day; left at 1 a.m. on the 28th, and steamed on to Dusky Sound, arrived abreast of the copper mine at 8 am.; proceeded on to Milford Sound at 10 a.m., and after a etay of two hours passed on to Martin's Bay, landed mails on the 29tb, and steamed on to Big Bay, thence to Jackson's Bay, arriving there at 4 p.m.; sailed at 4 a.m. on the 30th, and called at Abbey Hocks, where two miners and a quantity of lithographic stone were taken on board, after which the Maori proproceeded on to Hokitika, and arrived off there at midnight ; had no communication with the shore on the 31st, but on the following day the lifeboat was lowered, and after taking on board the masters of a number of vessels lying in the roadstead, proceeded to the shore, and effected a landing after some difficulty; on August 2nd the Waipara came out and took a portion of the Maori's Hokitka cargo, after which the latter steamer sailed for Greymouth, but there not being sufficient water on the bar to allow of her crossing she steamed on to Westport, arriving there on the evening of the same day; sailed for Nelßon at 11 a.m. yesterday, and reached here as above. The Maori sailed for Lyttelton and Dunedin at 10 a.m
