Captain R. A. Edwin reports : — " Watch barometer ; bad weather approaching ; any direction between north-west and north and west. The glass is likely to fall quite fivetenths more." The Patea arrived from Patea early this morning. The Wallace leaves for Wellington at 4 p.m. to-morrow. The Kennedy is detained at Greymouth hy a rough bar. The Grafton has again been compelled to return to Westport without working Greymonth. The Wellington sailed for Taranaki and Manukau on Saturday night, and arrived at the latter port this morning. The Wanganui is expected to [arrive here from Wellington and South to-morrow morning, and sail for Westport and Greymouth the same day. The Maori is at Westport, where she reports a heavy rain to-day. She will probably arrive here to-morrow, and sail for Lyttelton and Dunedin the same day. The Taiaroa leaves Wellington this afternoon, will arrive here to-morrow morning, and sail for Picton Wellington by the same tide at 10 30 a.m.

The Charles Edward arrived here last night, after being b3r-bound at Hokitika for several days. She experienced a strong N.E. wind with heavy sea on the passage up. Owing to the bad weather the Charles Edward will not sail for West Coast ports till noon to-morrow.

The Dido arrived from Patea yesterday, having left that port on Saturday morning. She was towed out by the Patea, and Capt. Johnston reports 12 feet of water on the bar. Light N.E. winds were experienced on Saturday night with heavy swell in Blind Bay yesterday. While coming into harbor last night the Dido got ashore on the Boulder Bank through the wind failing her, but waa got off shortly afterwards with the assistance of the crew of the pilot boat without sustaining any apparent damage. The Mnrray arrived from West Coaßt porta at 11 o'clock last night. She left Nelson on the 24th ult., and arrived at Westport on the 26tb; sailed for Greymouth same day, and arrived there on the 27th. Owing to there being very little water on the bar ahe received a terrible hammering while crossing. The Murray was detained there on account of the shallowness of the bar until Saturday morning, when she sailed for Westport, arriving there in the evening; left for Nelson by the same tide, and arrived here as above. Experienced strong N.E. winds with heavy sea daring the upward passage. The Murray sails for West Coast ports on Wednesday next.
