PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTBACT TTNDER the Distinguished Patronage of U his Majesty tbe Ring of Italy, at Borne, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction*- from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus, oil found in the trade instead of onr Eucalyptus Extract. So far as tbe ccmmitting of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but aa the qualities of both of the products are In many casta directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in casea of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon tbe si in. Any blistering brought in by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc.. the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact tbat tbe oil is a resinoua product equivalent to com iron turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extraeff consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its efft ets, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
