On the recommendation of the Finance Committee, Mr Jackson's tender was accepted, the securities whom he offered being also considered satisfactory. The following recommendations oi the Works and Finance Committee were adopted: 1. That the salary of the master of Ngatitnoti school be raised to the former rate, £120 per annum, the average attendance during the past six months having been over 2.. Resolved, That the Reef ton Committee be frfffrnjed that the Board of Examiners consider Mr E: Edridge the best qualified candidate for the mastership of Black's Point School. Resolved, That the Waimangafoa Committee be informed that the Board of Examiners consider Mr A. D. Cumming the best qualified candidate for the mastership of Waimangoroa School. ' Resolved, That Miss Dike be appointed assistant at Charleston Girls' School, toe ' Charleston Committee having been previously consulted. ~: '■ Resolved, Tbat Mr Shephard be appointed a member of the Board of Examiners Resolved, That £5 be allowed for repairs of temporary schoolroom at Waimangaroa. Resolved, 'That the Charleston Committee be informed that the payment of a subsidy is invariably made conditional on the parents of tbe school children providing a schoolroom at their own cost. Resolved, That the Rockville Committee he authorised to have the school site properly cleared, grubbed, and drained, at a cost of not more than £5. Resolved, That the Upper Moutere Committee be authorised to have the roof ;of the Neudorf school covered with iron. Resolved, That the consideration of an application from the Ngatimoti Committee for a grant of £13 be postponed for a month. Resolved, That in the opinion of the Board •n expenditure of £30 on the master's house at the village, Waimea West, ia not required at present. Mr Falla having notified to the Board that Miss Falla's Juae salary cheque had been dishonored, the Secretary was instructed to inform Mr Falla that he must took to the Westport Committee for payment, as the salary in question had been duly paid by the Board to the Committee's credit, June 6th. Resolved, That £40 be set apart for the purchase of half-an acre at Lower Wakefietd for a play ground. A letter was read from the Westport Committee, stating that the Committee bad unanimously resolved to accept the Board's resolution of June 5, as a final settlement of the question of the readmission of the boys expelled from the Boy's School. A letter having been read from Mr Lloyd in which he objected to an apology being made a condition of his boys' readmission to Westport School, it was resolved that Mr Lloyd be referred to the .Board's resolution of May Ist, dealing with Mr Muoro's case, and that Mr Lloyd be informed that this resolution was meant to apply to his case also; Resolved, That the receipt of Mr Munro'a letter, referring to the same subject, be acknowledged. Resolved, That the receipt of Mr Rathtuu's letter, referring to the examination for the extra scholarship, be : acknowledged. ' A letter having been read from the Westport Committee commenting on a telegram sent from Westport to the Board by the Bishop of Nelson, it was resolved that the thanks of the Board be given to the Bishop of Nelson for the great pains he has taken in endeavouring to bring about an accommodation between the Westport Committee and the Board. i Resolved, That the Board expresses fits regret that, in so doing, His Lordship should have been subjected to so much undeserved annoyance. Resolved, That a purchase agreement for the conveyance to the Board of the site of the school at Stanley Brook be prepared by the Board's Solicitors. ' Notice of motion by Mr Dencker : That a sum of £250 be set apart for the erection of each of tbe following buildings :— Master's house Riwaka, master's house Lower Moutere, master's house Spring Grove.
