The land revenue has increased by £34,167. r Wednesday. . Arrived yesterday— Tararua from Auckland. . The health of Chief Justice Martin is better, and it is unlikely he will resign. In the Legislative Council, the Law Amendment Act wrs read the second time. Melbourne, Tuesday. Arrived— Steamers Kent from London and Albion from the Bluff. Mr Zoi, the Conservative 'candidate, has been elected for East Melbourne by a majority Of 197. ' Aa excellent observation was obtained this morning |of the conjunction of Saturn and Mars. Wednesday. It is expected that the revenue will show a large falling off as compared with the estimate. The deficiency will be at least £200,000, and the Age, the Government organ, anticipates £360,000.
