TttK celebration of the 'Wesleyan Church Anniversary takes place this evening. The dramatic entertainmeot which gave > ao much satisfaction last Tirarsday,<w}]l with a few alterations be repeated at the Theatre Royal to night. Wk understand that a splendid seam of coal has been discovered in the Bailer Valley within 60 miles of Foxhill. We hopa to be able to famish farther particulars in a few days. The drawing for the prizes in St. Mary's Art Union took place last night, the Rev. Father Mahoney presiding, and Messrs J Hounaell and Toplis acting aa scrutineers for the ticket holders, and Mr A. M'Gee for the Committee. A good deal of interest was displayed in the drawiag, particularly aa the principal prize (£SO) was not allotted nntil late in the evening, when it was found to be the property of Mr A. Green, of Queenstown. The winning numbers will be found elsewhere. : In the present crisis Mr Hurethouse, no doubt feeling that he should like to have his hands strengthened by an expression of opinion from hia constituents, invites them to meet him at the Motueka Institute on Monday evening next, at seven o'clock. The monthly inspection of the Town and Fort Volunteers took place last night, when there was a large muster. After the arms had been inspected by Major Pitt, the Volunteers marched through the town to Trafalgarstreet, where a number of erolations were performed, after which they proceeded back to the Drill Shed, and were dismissed. Frojn some unexplained cause the Battalion Band was not present. The Post says of Mr Mclntosh the recently elected Lieutenant and Secretary of the Waimea Rifles: -Volunteers will be sorry to hear that Mr John Mclntosh, Sab-laeot. of the Wellington City Rifles, has seal ia his resignation. Mr Mclntosh went to; the Brightwater meeting in March last, and finding that place agreed with His health better than Wellington, decided to regain there, starting in business as a cabinet-maker. Mr Mclntosh has always taken a lively interest iq the working of the corps, and wai field in great respect by his comrades. '
