REPORTED BREAK UP OF THE MINISTRY. Wellington, Monday. The Hon Mr Ballance sent in his resignation of his office in the Ministry this morning bb beiDg, under the. circumstances, best for the colony and his colleagues. It appears that a violent altercation occurred in the Cabinet on Saturday between the Premier and Treasurer respecting a question of departmental administration, the Native Minister being present. It is reported that the Auckland Herald had an extra out on Saturday morning announcing Mr Ballance's resignation an hoar before any words between Sir G. Grey and Mr Ballance had occurred. It is thought probable that Mr Moss will be appointed Treasurer. 2.14. p.m. Mr Ballance's resignation is accepted. It is reported that Messrs Macandrew, Sheehan, and Fisher will resign.
