The Sarah March left Greymouth for Nelson on Thursday with a cargo of coal for Messrs N. Edwards and Co. The Harmodius is laid on the berth at London for Nelson in place of the Lochnagar. The Chaudiere proceeds to Wellington, *nd loads there for London, following the Loch Ken. While the Arawata was lying off Port Chalmers on Tuesday morning last one of the steerage passengers, who had been drinking heavily, jumped overboard. Fortunately he was observed by a sailor, who rescued him by means of a boat hook. The would-be scicide was handed over to the police on the steamer's arrival at Port Chalmers. The Arawata arrived in harbor at M 5 p.m. to-day. She left Melbourne on the 1 8th instant with the Suez mail, 45 saloon aud 42 steerage passengers and 360 tons of cargo for all ports. Experienced light S.E. winds to the 2 1st, when a heavy S.W. gale with high breaking sea was encountered, and continued until the steamer arrived at the Bluff at 9 a.tn. on Tuesday; sailed for Port Chalmers at 4-30 p.m., arriving there early next morning; left in the afternoon, and arrived at Lyttelton next day; sailed for Wellington at 630 p.m., and arrived there on Thursday morning; left for Picton at I2 r 3O p.m. yesterday, and after landing- a number of horses, sailed for Nelson at 5 a.m. today, arriving here as above. The Arawata sailed for Wellington, South, and Melbourne, with the ontward Suez mail, this afternoon. — — «— — . —»m_.__— _______________
