He was out with a reconnoitring party on the Ist June, when they were surprised by the Zulus, and before they were able to withdraw the Prince was assegaied. The British troops have crossed the Buffalo river and reached Cappulego. The advance was to be continued on the 2nd 1 June. The British Government have joined the French Government in demanding the abdication of the Khedive of Egypt. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £20,625,000. The bidding was animated throughout, and prices were fully maintained at an advance of a halfpenny to a penny. In the House of Commons last night, Mr Mills, in compliance with a request by the Secretary of State for the Coionies, postponed his motion on the Victorian Constitutional question until a motion, of which Sir M. Hicks Beach, acting in co-operation with Mr Mills, has given notice, shall have been disposed of. This latter motion condemns any Imperial intervention unless the same is directly asked for by both branches of the Legislature.
