The Nelson Evening Mail. SATURDAY, JUNE 14, 1879.
A severe storm from the south east passed over the town last night, reaching its height about I a.m. From that time until two was a particularly lively hour, meteorological disagreeables of all kinds, including rain, hail, wind, thunder and lightning combining to make it exceedingly disagreeable for any unfortunate wayfarer who happened to be outside, and rendering sleep impossible to those who were snug in their beds. This morning the atmosphere was clear, and the weather looked jusfc as though it had done nothing to be ashamed of during the nighfc. There was a very good attendance at the open meeting of the Loyal Nelson Good Templar Lodge last night. The chair was taken by Mr T. Scotfc, and a very pleasant evening was passed. A public meeting is called by the Wesleyan Temperance Society, to be held iv the Hardy-street church on Monday evenine at 7.30. 6 The Customs receipts for the week ending this day amounted to £472 4s 3d. We understand tbat the Rev. D. Dolamore, Caver3h>.m, Dunedin, formerly of the Baptist Church, NelsoD, has found ifc necessary to take a change to a drier climate, and has intimated his intention to relinquish his present charge eariy in the approaching summer, and remove northward.
