The Nelson Evening Mail. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11, 1879.
In order that the Volunteer Ball may be a thorough success it was decided, at a meeting of the officers held last night, to postpone it until His Excellency the Governor pays his official visit to Nelson. The adjourned meeting of the Tradesmen's Athletic Club will be held at the Trafalgar Hotel to-night at half-past seven. The drawing in St. Mary's Art Union is to take place on the 30th of this month. The prizes offered on this occasiou far surpass in number and value any Art Union that has taken place in Nelson for some time, for besides the beautiful and varied articles of plated goods already exhibited, there are £150 in cash prizes, ten new watches (some of them gold), besides many articles of fancy work. There are a few more tickets to be disposed of whicb those who desire to obtain them would do well to secure at once. i r i ■■' — — nn
