The barque has met .with quick despatch, barely a week having elapsed since her arrival hero. Her destination is Newcastle. The following is the passenger lidt of the Taiaroa, which arrived here from Pieton and Wellington yesterday afternoon .-—Miss Lawson,- Mr and Mrs Eden, Mrs and Miss Colt, Messrs Gunn, Dunn, Coutes, Dixon (2), Ellis, Pitt, Waters, and Davis. Captain Pbease, of the barque Edwin Fox which vessel was here at the latter end of last year, had a very narrow escape from drowning at Timaru the other day. He was coming ashore from bis vessel in a boat when it capsized in the surf, about 100 yards from the beach. All the crew were thrown into the water, and Captain Phease's legs having got entangled in the yoke lines he had some difficulty in clearing himself When he got himself free from the lines he was nearly exhausted having been some time in the water. The accident was observed on board the Edwin Fox, and the life-boat was launched, but before it arrived at the scene of the accident the drowning men were picked up by a boat from the shore in a very exhausted state.
