The Ringarooma made a twenty-six hours' passage between Port Chalmers and Lyttelton on her last trip, having been enveloped in a dense fog nearly the whole of the way. The Natal Queen, overdue from Newcastle, has not yet turned up. The S.E weather which has prevailed lately has probably kept her back, but now that the wind has veered round to the S.W., the barque may be expected to put in an appearance shortly. At a Board of Trade inquiry at Plymouth the master of the ship Adelaide had his certificate suspended for six months for having gone on a voyage with uncertificated seamen acting as his officers. Four-masted sailing vessels appear to be the rage among the shipowners at Home just now. A fine vessel of 1700 tons of that rig was launched on the Clyde on March 10 She was named tbe Falls of Bruar, and i 3 intended for the East India trade. The Arizona, oue of the largest mercantile steamers afloat, was launched on Monday on the Clyde from the ship building yard of Messrs John Elder and Co. This vessel is for tbe Liverpool and Great Western Steamship Company, better know as the Guion Line of Liverpool and New York traders. She is 465 feet in length, 46 feet in bredth of beam, and 37 £ feet in depth of hold.; Her gross tonnage is 5500 tons, and her dead weight, exclusive of 1200 tons of coal space, is 2600 tons. Her engines are of 1200 horsepower nominal, or 6000 horse-power actual — fully one horse-power per ton. She has four decks, with a promenade deck for cabin passengers. In addition to the cabin passenger accommodation, • the lower deck canj if required, be fitted up to accommodate from 1500 to 2000 troops or passengers.— Scotsman March 15
