[From the Nelson Colonist, June 20th, 1876. As most of the farmers in the Waimeas fatten more or lefs bacon for the market every year, it might cot be uninte'.stiotr for them to know the result of nn experiment ia pig feeding made by Mr Wm. White, of Spring Grove,. who purchased, four pigs in .ovember last. Two of them were of the ordiraiy bind of pigs, neither rdngh nor smooth, the other two w<re purrbasrd from Mr C. Canning, of Richmond, who imported some firstclass Ber!.Bhire pigs some tfw yeare ago, and from which stock these I*tt_ two came. The four pigs were fed in two separate pens, though out of the same tub, and none of them were forced till within the last two months, On their being killed, the first numed two weighed two hundred and forty and two hundred and twenty-one pounds respectively, aged twelve months ; the latter two, those purchaoe.i from Mr Tanning, weighed three hundred anri fifteen and three I hundrtd and thirty-four pounds, and were a I little over nine months old. These figures ot course rpfak for them'elff.« and show anmhtakeably th<it a g .rina 1 of seventeen pounds per month is effect d i.y feeding firstclas* ri_a. No doubt the same applies to cattle and ehtep, if the prnp?r breeds and crosses were prqptrly attended to. IHT The Aoctioteers would direct the attention of Breeders to this sale as affording an opportunity of obtaining first c'aas Stock at moderate prices, es the whole will be sold WITHOUT RESERVE.
