MR. FOX SPEAKS OUT.
, r t, Wanganoi, Friday, • i? X ad(iresse d his constituents last nignt v'uen there was a full meeting, and a vote of confidence and thanks was passed unanimously He spoke fdr two 1 hoiirsj attacking the members of the Ministry in strong termg. He said the Colonial Treasurer was a mere novice in finauce; described the land tax as a great blunder, and said that the receipts for land would fall short three quarters of a million of what was expected. He strongly condemned the action of Sir G. Grey and Mr Sheehan in crawling iuto the Kopua meeting and putting the King party on its legs who had (hen dragged the Colonial Government through the ditt. JSo Government Was ever insulted as ours had been by Te Whiti and Hirbki. Mr Fox condemned the Government for not bringing in a new Native fcand Bill v/hirth, when they were $v opposition, they said was a vitai necessity. Then, where was Mr Sheehan'a promise that the Government would give over purchasing Native land, and leave it to private persons? The Natives Considered Mr Sheehan bounceable and deceitful, and looked on hini with aversion. Where wa3 the land Rewi was to give to the doiony, and where was the railway through the King country, for which Mr Macandrew appro^ priated a million and a .half? Everything the latfe Government had been blamed for doing, the present one was guilty Of. The Hiaemoa was used for private purposes; they inhumanly refused the Marquis of Normanby the use of that steamer to take away his invalid wife to Australia when he offered to pay the expenses, while Mr Ballance and Mr Stout went pleasuring in her, and insulted the Governor by laying her alongside the trading steamer at Lyttelton in which he was leaving the colony. They occupied without shame the Ministerial residences which they before said should be sold. He feared so much time had been wasted during this recess in pleasuring that the Government measures would not be ready next session in time.
