The price has not transpired. Mr Ponsonby, parser of the Wakatipu, has resigned bis position on board that steamer, and is about to enter into business in Wellington. ' The Taiaroa came into harbor at five o'clock yesterday afternoon, and discharged and shipped a large batch of cargo, which kept her occupied until high water, when she sailed for Taranaki and Manukan. The former steamer leaves Wellington on Monday afternoon, will arrive here on Tuesday morning, and sail for Picton and Wellington by the same tide at 9.30 a.m. A Sydney telegram to the Post, dated Thursday, says :— The barque Cicero, which has just arrived from London, reports that off the Victorian coast she sighted a large ship, apparently &n iron vessel, which had been completely burned all but the bare shell. Two schooners were alongside the wreck. The name of the ship is unknown, and the circumstances of her destruction are involved m complete mystery. An enquiry into the matter is now proceeding. Experienced bad and unsettled weather the -whole of the trip round.
