The Star of the South 3ailed for Wellington and South at 5.30 p.m. yesterday. The Rotorua left Melbourne for Hobarton and New Zealand ports yesterday. The Albion should arrive at Wellington to-morrow morning. Her passengers and cargo for Nelson will be brought across by the Taiaroa. The Lady Barkly sailed for Golden Bay this morning. m The sailing of the Wallace for Wellington is postponed till 4 p.m. to-morrow owing to the dirty weather. The Ly ttel ton leaves Blenheim for Wellington this afternoon. The Kennedy and Murray are still detained at Greymouth, the bar being blocked up. The Wellington leaves Onehunga this afternoon, will arrive here on Friday morning, and sail for Picton and Wellington by the same tide at 8 a.m. The Taiaroa did not reach Picton until eleven o'clock this morning, having been detained by bad weather. She will probably arrive at Wellington this afternoon, and leaves there for Picton, Nelson and North to-morrow afternoon, arriving here on Friday morning, and sailing at 5 p.m. same day for Taranaki and Manukau. The following passengers arrived by the Taiaroa yesterday afternoon from Picton and Wellington :— Misses Pratt, Healey M'Rae, 1 Sister of Mercy, Mesdames Hamlnond, Staples, Rev Evans, Messrs Clancb jGarter, Monro, Richardson, Holmes, Ward Palmer, Luxford, Walker, Staples. Starting from Alexandria he reached New York vn Brindisi, Pans, London, and 1 iverpool in 20 days JfromNew York to San Francisco, Yokohama, and Hong Kong occupied the same period, 10 days were taken up in the voyage to Ceylon and 12 days in the voyage from i*alle to Suez, whence a journey of a few hours was sufficient to complete the circle to Alexandria. The Union Steamship Company have received advices that the second boat, the Te Anau, will be completed during August Jhia is somewhat earlier than was anticipated It was not intended that she should follow the Rotomahana so Bpeedily, but the Company nave thought it advisable to press forward her construction, so that they may be able to provide ample facilities for the large increase of passenger traffic during the summer months which is expected from the Sydney Exhibition and the increase of trade. The Teasel will be somewhat smaller than the Kotomahana, the Te Anau's dimensions being —length, 270ft. ; beam, 34ft. ; depth, 25ft ; 350 horse-power nominal, and she is expected to average thirteen knots easily. Her passenger accommodation will be similar to that of the other boats of the line, and she will carry 100 saloon. Her tonnage will be about the same as the Wakatipu. Caird and Co are now building for the same company two other steamera, to be called Anconia and Verona, and they will be crack ships of 3200 tons each ; they have also six of their steamers to re-boiler, so as to be in the best state to enter on their new contract next year.
