CORRESPONDENCE,

To the Editor of tiik " Evening Maii " Sir— la reference to the early closing and half-holiday question I think the remarks made by a brother draper are in many cases only too true. It is quite tivae tint something was done to relieve those employed. If the half-holiday movement was introduced it would greatly benefit the health of those employed, and also be to the interest of tne employers in many ways. But before going into this subject any deeper it would be advisable for all those employed to meet and see if they can agree upon the question, and then, if so, it entirely depends upon the employers and the general public, who, I think, would willingly conform themselves tJ any arrangement the employers might

come to on the question of closing on Wednesday afternoons and eoriy ou Siitr-day nights, say ten o'clock shaip, which would afford those employed a chance of leaving business before Sriday morning, which is at present not often the case, and what I consider anything but light. I hope the employers ■will thiuk the question and the health of the ; r employes worthy of consideration, and also thnt the public will gWe us every assistance on this important question, and 'hereby crible 113 to defend and maintain our rights. I trust you will afford me sufficient space in your vulnble columns to insert these few lines for it isaques'ion of great impoi lance. — I am, &c, Ax L^FOUTLA'ATE VICTISI.
