CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor op the "Eventno Maii,." Sm— l trust you will afford me a small space in your columns to make a few comments upon Mr Smith's "letter, which appeared in the supplement to the CoLnist on the 15th instant. He calls my letter, which appeared in your paper on the 10th, a clumsy production, and accuses me of abusing the Inspector. That gentleman did not come hete to enquire about the appointment of the schoolmaster— of abusing the Chairman; that has to be proved yet — of abusing himself, if truth is abuse he is ■welcome to it — of abusing the clock; if the clock had pointed to 14, 13, or even 12 minutes past seven it might have ticked on an<i no notice been taken of it. He says I am a coward as I did not put my name to the document. 1 am uot fond of blowing my own trumpet or of adding riders to verdicts so that my name shall appear in print. As he says lam well known I hope like a good fellow he will blow ray trumpet for me. I wanted a packed meeting and a packed Committee! Yes, we wanted to pack all the electors that could possibly attend into the schoolroom, and pack in a Committee that we could have some confidence in.— l am, &c, An Electok. February 17, 1878.
