Lady Robinson lays the foundation stone of the Exhibition on Thursday. Bhisbane, Monday. Messrs Gresley and Lukin are appointed Executive Commissioners for Queensland to the Sydney Exhibition. There has been a sham fight in which 600 rolnnteers were engaged. Colonel Scratchley expressed his satisfaction. Melbourne, Monday. Terrific fires are raging in Colac forest and fears are entertained for the safety of the township.
The Minister for Lands will not at present press for payment of rent from selectors wfrose crops have suffered from rust. Later. There are now six victims to the Colac fire, and another is not expected to survive. The steamer Kerangi, wrecked on Gabo Island, was insured for £23,000. [Special.]
