GREAT EIRE IN CHRISTCHURCH.
We learn by telegraph that a destructive fire occorred at Christchurch last night in the premises of Mr Saunderd. merchant ; Messrs Sargood and Son, and Ewen, warehousemen ; and A. Sorenson, merchant. A strong breeze was blowing at the time. We must express our surprise that we have not received fuller particulars from the Press Agency. From a private telegram received in town, we learn that the following ate the insurances: Colonial, £1000; Norwich Union, i"lU00 s New Zealand, XSO'JO; Union, £1500; South British, £3000; London and Lancashire, £1750; Standard, £:?000; Liverpool and London, £1000; Commercial Uiuon, £1000; National, £2000.
