MR. CURTIS' BILL.

Sm.— Mr Pitt says that if Mr Curtis' Bill were passed it would do away ,with the Catholic grievance "without injuring any other denomination or violating any principle " But I humbly submit that according to Mr Curtis' Bill six-sevenths of the population would be taxed for the teaching of history which they believe to be erroneous, and would thus have a grievance which, though not as practical a one as that of the Catholics under the present Act, is sufficiently real, when coupled with their vast numerical preponderance, to be a valid objection to the proposed concession. If Mr Curtis' Bill should pass, it will indeed be true, aB Cardinal Manning says, that "dogma has conquered history." lam &c>
