Paris, January lc The French Ministerial Statement to-day declared the country to be Republican and actuated by pacific motives. It promised rigorous measures in order to make a republican form of Government profitable, and hence the necessity for terminating existing commercial treaties, without, however, departing from the principle of free trade. Changes of an anti-republican nature would be avoided, unless it would be detrimental to the interests of the country not to grant them. The statement was coldly received. . Aden, January 15. The Orient steamer Curzco arrived to-day.
